Mini June Bug singles

Here's another alternative to consider.

The 1/8oz June Bugs were a hit so I decided to rachet down a click, using a #7 blade vs the #6's on the 1/8oz version.

A 1/18oz little brother to the 1/8oz. Ultralite for small streams and bank fishing bluegills.

To reduce weight, I went down to 8MM tail beads as well, then used a # 6 offset steelhead single hook.

These still have the slip R bend tail loop for hook substitutions and are available with dressed zonker banded singles, zonker banded #10 trebles, weedless, single or treble hooks.

Strung on the stainless for two points of blade rotation, these also provide that interesting fixed angle strobe and can be retrieved at ultra slow speed while still flashing at slow speed.

The dressed zonker banded hooks add interesting color choices and a fluid fish attracting bait when wet, that can even be scented.

Nice alternative spinner.

Off the Scales

Our biggest spinner to date (I gotta stop this obsession)! Three ounces and 10 inches in length.

To weigh these spinners I had to move to a Postage scale. They're big, buffed, and burly.

Here's a white and silver one.

Bodies are powder coated and baked 3/8oz marine brass or nickel. Transparent colors use the nickel for luster. These two are brass beads.

Friction discs are used between beads.

They're 3oz double skirted Armadillo's with double #9 fluted Indiana blades. The blades are heavy .040 gauge. Gold plated or highly polished nickel.

To get the weight to move up to three ounces, I've added a nickel bullet component below the skirts.

These have a split ring attached #3/0 laser treble that's dressed with banded zonker strips.

Adding the component below the skirts move the dressed treble out to the break in the skirt. Free to dance the can can for your favorite species. Colors are matched to contrast the 8 inch 53 strand silicon starflash skirts, this helps to aid visibility.

No problem seeing these bushy dressed trebles dance behind the spinners reflection and turbulence during retrieve - a very enticing bait.

The double .040 gauge Indiana's really churn some water. If you fish them with your rod tip elevated, they'll cause a wake that big predatory fish will absolutely notice.

Walleye Buzz

Got a request from another Wisconsin native for some different Walleye baits.

He just came out of a Lake Winnebago tournament fishing our other prop models with good luck. Not being shy, he wanted to try some more FCS alternatives.

Here's what I came up with -

Buzz props - banded zonker mohawk - colored hook harness - lip hooks

Red and White Mohawk - 4 blade Buzz

Fish Creek Spinners Walleye Mohawk - Red and White

These little buzz blades ought to chop up some turbulence and bring over bigger fish to see what all the commotion is about.

They're strung on .031 inch stainless wire. Nothing like propeller rotation on wire to put some noise on the line and bring fish to attention.

The zonker strip is banded on a small sleeve with a skirt band. Call these Crawler Mohawks.

I added a lip hip for attaching the crawler head. It just seemed right.

Armadillo's in Poland?

FCS Glass Armadillo's were fished in the Carnivorous Artificial Baits Shore Fishing World Competition in the river Bóbr in Wojanów near Jelenia Góra.

Here's a few pictures the team sent me. Yes, those are FCS logo hats!

Anglers fish a lane, being judged on technique, with penalties assessed by judges.

The team competed against national teams from 13 other countries. The competition is judged and rank is determined by the lowest number of penalty points assessed in about ten different sections of the river. The competition was two days in late May.

I was expecting it to be total fish or total weight, but what do I know about European World Competitions!
